10th Annual April Fools' Race at Hale Ray School Today The East Haddam Community Lions Club will host its 10th Annual April Fools Race today, Sunday, March 29, at 10 a.m. The race will start at Nathan Hale-Ray High School, 15 School Rd. in Moodus. 5K Run Benefits Literacy Volunteers Today, Sunday, March 29, Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore will hold its “Annual Backward Mile and 5K Run/Walk” Registration for the races begins at 7:30 a.m at the Essex Town Hall, on West Avenue. Estuary Transit District Officers Elected The Estuary Transit District (ETD) Board of Directors elected officers at its annual meeting on Feb. 20. The ETD Board of Directors consists of one member from each of the nine towns in the transit district. The towns include Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook. Old Saybrook First Selectman Michael Pace is a member of the ETD Board of Directors. Estuary's "Autumn on the Dock" Seeks Sponsors The 2009 “Autumn on the Dock” is the Estuary Council of Seniors’ largest fundraiser for the region’s only “Meals on Wheels” and daily hot meal programs. Fire Department Food Drive Hailed a Success The Old Saybrook Fire Department (OSFD) is proud to announce that its volunteer firefighters collected 2,364 pounds of food for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries as part of Gov. M. Jodi Rell's 2009 Day of Caring and Compassion last Saturday. It is anticipated this may be the highest amount collected by any of the 15 firehouses that participated in the food drive. Joseph Lawler Receives Educator of the Year Award
Joseph P. Lawler of Branford was recently honored at the annual Connecticut Association for Adult and Continuing Education Conference at Water’s Edge in Westbrook. He was awarded the Renee B.
